Ramadan lights in London 2025
London is celebrating Ramadan 2025 with a vibrant display of lights and events, marking the third consecutive year of this tradition. The festivities commenced on February 26, 2025, with Mayor Sadiq Khan officiating the switch-on ceremony at Piccadilly Circus. The illuminated display, featuring over 30,000 LED bulbs inspired by Islamic geometric patterns and celestial symbols, adorns Coventry Street between Piccadilly and Leicester Square. The lights will remain lit daily from 5 pm to 5 am until March 30, 2025, when they will transition to celebrate Eid, continuing until April 6, 2025.
This year’s celebrations introduce several new features:
- ‘Spread The Light’ Interactive Installation: Located in Leicester Square, this installation allows visitors to send beams of light skyward, symbolizing generosity and unity. It will be operational until April 1, 2025.
- ‘Ramadan Delights’ Iftar Food Trail: In partnership with the Heart of London Business Alliance, this Halal-friendly food trail offers exclusive discounts and special menus at various restaurants, including 1 Leicester Square, Franco’s, Americana London, Shake Shack, and Bone Daddies. The trail runs from February 28 to March 30, 2025.
- Community Lantern Project: Individuals and families can download, decorate, and share lantern patterns from the Ramadan Lights London website, fostering a sense of community and spreading the festive spirit.
